2009 AD-17 Delegates

(Update: Elected delegates reported on Saturday are incorrect. Final roster is current as of 01/12/2009).

The AD-17 Delegate election was held today, January 10, 2009. Twelve delegates from California Assembly District 17 (AD-17) were formally elected to serve 2-year terms as representatives of the district. Under party rules, an equal number of men and women must be selected. They are:

Women:
  • Sandra Carter (Stockton)
  • Sara Cazares (Stockton)
  • Martha Gamez* (Tracy)
  • Michelle Renee Hayes (Stockton)
  • Merissa Magdael-Lauron (Stockton)
  • Rhodesia Ransom (Tracy)
Carmen Fernandez (Stockton) is the alternate.
* Martha Gamez was elected to serve as Chairperson of the AD-17 Delegates.

Men:
  • Paul Akinjo (Lathrop)
  • John Forrest (Tracy)
  • Craig Hansen (Stockton)
  • Tariq Khan (Stockton)
  • Hardeep Singh Rai (Livingston)
  • Norman Vaughn-Hulbert (Merced)
Adam Gray (Merced) is the alternate.
A coin toss on Monday, January 11, 2009, between Adam Gray and Norman Vaughn-Hulbert decided the sixth and final male delegate slot.

Each of the delegates will represent AD-17 at the upcoming California Democratic Convention to be held in Sacramento.

AD 17 Election Tomorrow!

The AD 17 Election Meeting is tomorrow!  Democrats from the AD 17 will be electing 12 delegates to attend the state convention and one Executive Board representative to attend the periodic E-Board meetings.

Meeting Details

The AD 17 delegate election will be held this Saturday, January 10th at the Operating Engineers Union Local No. 3, 1916 N. Broadway in East Stockton.  Doors open at 12:00 pm — for registration and “early” voting.  The formal meeting starts promptly at 2:00 pm.
