Committees

The Tracy Dems have numerous committes for you to join.

The Membership Committee shall:

  1. Be responsible for obtaining and retaining all membership cards;
  2. Be responsible for maintaining a membership roster;
  3. Be responsible for contacting potential new members;
  4. Make every effort to increase the membership in the Club;
  5. Assist the President and Secretary in their assigned duties.

The Bylaws Committee shall:

  1. Be responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the Club on all proposed amendments to the Bylaws in accordance with the procedures set forth herein;
  2. Be responsible for furnishing copies of proposed Bylaw amendments to the membership of the Club for review;
  3. Be responsible for furnishing a final approved copy to the Secretary for filing purposes and distribution to all concerned parties.

The Farm Team Committee shall:

  1. Identify, recruit, screen, train, and advise Democrats who are candidates or potential candidates for appointed or elected public office; and
  2. Be in charge of informational resources for Democratic candidates to facilitate their successful appointment or election to public office.
  3. Candidates and potential candidates, to be aided by the Farm Team Committee, must demonstrate a commitment to carrying out the philosophy and programs of the Democratic Party.

The Community Engagement Committee shall:

  1. Be primarily engaged in reaching out to all segments of the county with a goal toward improving the diversity of the makeup of the Club;
  2. Promote networking with other groups and likeminded organizations within San Joaquin County;
  3. Devise methods, through the use of speakers, printed materials, and media contact, to inform the public about the Club and the Democratic philosophy and programs;
  4. Spearhead Club visibility and participation in community events and projects;
  5. Provide outreach to the high schools in the county and assist in developing Young Democrat Clubs in all local educational institutions;
  6. Oversee the development of the youth membership program in the Club.

The Finance & Fundraising Committee shall:

  1. Be responsible for devising a budget for the Club at the beginning of the calendar year. This proposal will be presented to the body for adoption within sixty (60) days;
  2. Be responsible to the body for recommending adjustments to the adopted budget;
  3. Oversee the work of the Treasurer of the Club;
  4. Establish a year round fundraising plan for the Club;
  5. Set a timetable for achieving fundraising goals; and
  6. Prepare and present quarterly written reports to the membership outlining fundraising activities of the Club.
  7. The Treasurer shall serve on the Finance & Fundraising Committee.

The Web Site Committee shall:

  1. Be responsible for the development of the Club web site;
  2. Be responsible for the operation and updating of the web site; and
  3. Be responsible for the selection of a vendor to assist with the development, operations, necessary “tools” and updating of the web site.
  4. The Executive Committee will approve of any and all contracts for services for the web site.

The Neighborhood Organizer Program Committee shall:

  1. Be responsible for the development and continuity of a Neighborhood Organizer Program;
  2. Support and promote the following: voter identification, voter registration, facilitate involvement in Democratic activities; and
  3. Identify and select qualified Neighborhood Organizers to carry out the goals of the Program. The Committee is responsible for ensuring that participants in the program conduct themselves in ways that support electing Democratic candidates and should, therefore, reflect well on the Democratic Party.
  4. Neighborhood Organizers will provide a two-way conduit between the constituency and the Democratic Party, passing along information, ideas, suggestions and concerns in both directions.
  5. Any Neighborhood Organizers may be removed by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the Neighborhood Organizer Program Committee upon receipt of a complaint.
  6. All information gathered through this Program is considered private, and cannot be distributed by anyone to anyone without the unanimous consent of the entire Neighborhood Organizer Program Committee.

The Rapid Response Committee:

  1. Shall be responsible for writing Letters to the Editor in local and regional newspapers.
  2. Members of the Rapid Response Committee may also post comments on Internet blog-sites, including updating information and blogs on the club website.
  3. These letters or postings may be in response to previously printed negative articles, in support of club-supported issues and legislation, and/or in support of Democratic values.
  4. All Rapid Response materials require the approval of the Chairman of the Rapid Response Committee or their designee, prior to submission for publication in any format.

Ad Hoc Committees

The President, as deemed appropriate, shall appoint ad hoc committees.
